Police will allege Dalibor 'Daki' Bubanha repeatedly attacked the woman between the start of May and the end of September, twice raping her and once trying to choke her in separate alleged assaults.
He also stands accused of causing the woman "grievous bodily harm with intent" following an incident said to have occurred at the start of last month.
Bubanja, who is currently on parole for commercial drug supply charges, is also alleged to have intimidated and assaulted a second woman in September.
He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with 12 offences.
Details of the police case against Bubanja were not revealed during a brief mention of his matter in Wollongong Local Court on Thursday.
The 34-year-old chose not to appear in court via video link as his lawyer, Abbas Soukie, sought a one week adjournment to prepare a bail application.
Mr Soukie confirmed Bubanja was on parole at the time of the alleged offences.
"What happens to that parole remains to be seen," he said.
Magistrate Susan McGowan formally refused bail and adjourned the case to October 7.
Outside court, Mr Soukie told the Mercury his client would defend the charges.
"Mr Bubanja unequivocally rejects the allegations giving rise to these charges," he said.
"The allegations are baseless, lack any evidentiary foundation and will be defended vigorously."
The case was adjourned to October 7.
