With Tom Trbojevic ruled out of the series with injury, the 21-year-old was added to Brad Fittler's side on Sunday along with Newcastle forward Daniel Saifiti.
Lomax joins fellow Dragon Cameron McInnes in the 27-man squad.
Many have tipped the centre to emerge as a superstar in the years to come and Fittler expects him to thrive in the Origin arena.
"It was a real thrill of mine to tell Zac Lomax that he's part of the 27-man squad," Fittler said. "His name's been tossed up pretty much all year, we've got a fair few centres at the moment that are going well and also still playing.
"So when Tom Trbojevic went down, Zac Lomax was always going to be shadow for Tom. I can't wait to bring him into the squad, I can already tell his enthusiasm is going to suit the group and he'll add value for sure."
