So, to ensure parents didn't miss out this year because of COVID-19 restrictions, organisers have come up with a creative way of still holding an art show that celebrates the creative talents of the school.
"So we came up with this idea of bringing the art gallery to the community by putting it out on the fence outside," art teacher Andrew Hedger said.
"This way parents and the school community in general can walk or drive past at any time to check out some of the students' great artwork."
Mona Lisa Reimagined is the name of the art gallery.
"Students got the chance to create their own Mona Lisa painting. We then chose a winner from each class. All students then contributed in painting the chosen artwork," Mr Hedger said.
"What happened was all the kids learn about the painting, the reasons why it was made and all the mysteries that have made it so famous. Then we had a competition in each class where all the grade 6 students could redo it in their own way.
"It is pretty exciting today to see three months of work being outside on display on the fence."
Mr Hedger said there were a number of reasons why the art gallery was held in 2020.
"It has been a pretty tough year for people. We are really proud of what the kids have achieved and wanted to do something fun and different for the kids," he said.
"We also wanted to do it for the community as well. We wanted to give them something to replace not seeing our normal art show.
"It's been a tough year for the community. It is little things like this that bring community together and also bring a bit of joy to people."
Dapto Public School principal Tony Friedrich hoped the gallery would bring a bit of positivity to a world that hasn't been too positive lately.
"We also hope our poor parents get some joy and get to see a bit of what happens in our school," he said.
