There is a 95 per cent chance of rain and severe thunderstorms on Saturday which will have a top of 24 degrees in the afternoon before a colder change.
A gale warning has been issued for the Illawarra Coast, Batemans Coast and Eden Coast where gusty southerlies are expected on Saturday evening.
Temperatures are set to plummet overnight with a top of 16 degrees forecast for Wollongong on Sunday and Monday.
Colder temps will be experienced on the Southern Highlands and Southern Tablelands where a sheep graziers warning has been issued.
The bureau of meteorology says cold temperatures, rain and southerly winds will be experienced across the weekend in sheep country including higher ground in the Illawarra and on the South Coast.
Rain will continue all week and top temperatures are not expected to rise above 20 degrees until Friday
