The keys to the new medium rescue vehicle, which is worth $322,000, were officially handed over by Police and Emergency Services Minister David Elliott and Kiama MP Gareth Ward on Tuesday.
As well as that, a new $62,000 command vehicle will also be parked at the Kiama SES headquarters.
"The medium rescue vehicle is the first of its type rolled off the production line," Mr Ward said.
"It involved feedback and comment from the SES volunteers on how it should be designed. I'm really pleased that volunteers are not only getting the resources that they need but they're also playing an active role in making sure the equipment best meets their needs."
Mr Ward said his strongest memory of the Kiama SES unit was the "incredible role" they played in helping the community when the town was hit by tornadoes in 2013.
