The University of Wollongong announced on Friday that they would host the Phoenix for a three-week A-League pre season camp, starting this Sunday.
The news ended days of speculation about the club's future, after Wellington confirmed it would be based somewhere in NSW in the coming months due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
However, it is unclear at this stage where the Phoenix will be based after the three-week camp.
UOW Vice-Chancellor Paul Wellings welcomed the decision, saying the university would offer their "world class facilities" to the Phoenix.
"We acknowledge the sacrifices being made by Wellington Phoenix players and staff and are thrilled to host them at UOW for the next three weeks," he said.
"The university has a long history of supporting great athletes and promoting sports throughout the region by providing modern facilities that support world-class training programs. We are pleased to play our part in supporting the Phoenix as they prepare for their upcoming A-League season."
Phoenix general manager David Dome thanked UOW for hosting the team and making their facilities available.
"We are excited to hold our pre-season camp in the beautiful city of Wollongong and utilising UOW's facilities where many high-performance teams and great athletes have trained," he said.
