He estimates he pedalled "a hundred - hundreds?" of revellers that night, but in the witness stand at Wollongong District Court on Tuesday, questions centred around just one fare - two men - one wearing a brown akubra hat - and a young woman.

Mr Poort said at the time he wouldn't have known the hatted man "if I fell over him" but had since realised he was NRL Dragons player Jack de Belin, travelling with Shellharbour Sharks player Callan Sinclair and the 19-year-old woman who alleges the men subjected her to a degrading rape in a North Wollongong townhouse not long after the ride ended.

Mr Poort said de Belin repeatedly avoided his question about where they were going, telling the driver, "you just have to trust me", before directing the tuk-tuk right onto Keira Street after it had stopped at the intersection with Crown St Mall.

The cab headed north - stopping somewhere before the North Gong Hotel - where de Belin directed the driver up a hill, only to be denied.

"My exact words were, 'f--- ... I'm not going up that hill, not for anything. I hate going up the hill", Poort said.

He told the jury de Belin got out and paid double the required fare.

"We charge $8 per person anywhere in Wollongong, so for him to pay $50 - it was, 'good on you mate, see you later'."

Before he pedalled away, he heard the men saying they were "going up to the unit", Mr Poort said.

"And I heard the girl, distinctly, what she said: 'like f--- are we'.

In earlier evidence, Mr Poort said the woman may have exposed herself while riding in his cab, but that he couldn't be sure.

"If it was that fare or the fare before or the one after I can't be 100 per cent sure, but the young girl on the back - and it's not uncommon, they get excited - she stood up and lifted her top up. And I realised what was going on because the cars were all shining their high beams and flashing their lights and honking their horns. I can't be 100 per cent sure."

Meantime, footballer Jai Field earlier told the jury that word of the woman's accusations had reached de Belin when he saw him at Dragons training the next day. Mr Field, who now plays for the Wigan Warriors, said de Belin told him he had consensual sex with the woman.

"Jack told me they got on the tuk-tuk bike and went to his cousin Jakey's place," he said, in a statement to police. "When they got there, [the woman] took her top off and they slept together and he was changing positions. There was no sign of her saying no. She didn't say 'stop'. They finished, got dressed, got in an Uber and they got dropped off in town."

He said de Belin told him he'd been recognised by fans who approached him on Crown St that night for photos "and that [the woman] was also joking around, saying that he was famous, can she get a photo as well? After that they [the men] got out of the line [for Fever nightclub] and bailed, and not with her".

Earlier evidence focused on the moment Mr Field parted ways with De Belin, Sinclair and the woman at the eastern end of Crown Street mall, before the trio got in the pedicab.

Mr Field said he asked each of the men if they wanted to go to Fever. He said the woman "was close, but I don't think she was in the conversation" about the plans to walk to the nightclub. He said he shook the mens' hands in farewell before departing, and offered the woman a wave.

"Did she acknowledge your wave?" defence lawyer Ed Andrerson asked him.

"Yeah, just waving back."

The trial continues.
