Goorjian will juggle the roles of being Australia's and the Hawks head coach, but Kordahi believes he is the right man for the job.
"I couldn't be more proud to see Brian lead an Australian team to success on the world stage. I thank Basketball Australia for entrusting Brian with this honour, you could not have picked a better person that will empower and inspire the team through his passion and love for the game," he said.
"To our Hawks fans, we're now fortunate to have the Australian coach at our doorstep. We reach out to the Illawarra community to jump on board to what's going to be an exciting new chapter for our organisation. We look forward to continue spreading the word of basketball, and there's no better person to lead this on a world stage, and within our community, than Brian Goorjian."
