The 91-Storey Treehouse is an adaption of the book written by Andy Griffiths, part of a larger series which began as a 13-storey treehouse then got bigger and bigger.
It follows the antics of "Andy", "Terry" and "Jill" as they again expand their fabulous abode.
In this instalment, the treehouse has been revamped to include additions like a deserted desert island, a whirlpool, and a giant spider.
Actor Sam Welsh steps into "Andy's" shoes for the production and said there is an amount of pressure because of the tough crowd.
"The kids know the show better than anyone," he said.
"[Author] Andy told me when he and [illustrator Terry Denton] do their book tours that some of the kids know the treehouse levels more than they do.
"It's more like a cult following these books for kids, so when you're on stage performing for them you want to hope you're doing the best for them."
Other upcoming productions to keep the youngsters entertained include the pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Roo Theatre in Shellharbour from January 8 to 17.
So Popera are producing the musical Grease at IPAC from January 15 to 23.
The next piece of kids' theatre on the Merrigong schedule for IPAC will be an adaption of the Bluey cartoon, Bluey's Big Play, scheduled for February 9 to 11.
The 91-Storey Treehouse is at IPAC this Wednesday and Thursday, with performance times at 4pm and 6.30pm.
The show is suitable for ages six to 12, and runs for approximately one hour with no interval. www.merrigong.com.au
