The government has started the process of finding a greenfield site for the new $700 million Shellharbour Hospital.
The public site selection process is open from now until December 4 and landowners can nominate potentially suitable sites for consideration.
"We're launching a thorough site selection process to secure a hospital site that is convenient, accessible and best placed to provide future health services to communities across the entire Illawarra region," Health Minister Brad Hazzard said.
The hospital is expected to include acute medical and surgical services, medical imaging, an emergency department, mental health services and a multi-storey car park.
The site has to include at least eight hectares of developable land and be within the central area of the Shellharbour LGA.
Site submissions can be made via the Colliers healthcare website.
