The accident happened on November 11 around 4.30pm when a Toyota Aurion and Toyota Corolla collided on Nebo Drive, near Walang Avenue.
After the collision the Aurion crashed into a tree.
The 96-year-old male driver of the Aurion was taken to Wollongong Hospital with suspected rib fractures and mandatory testing.
His passenger, a 94-year-old woman, was trapped in the car for some time.
After she was released and treated by emergency services, she was airlifted to St George Hospital with serious injuries.
The 94-year-old died in hospital on Wednesday.
The driver of the Corolla was taken to Wollongong Hospital for observation and has since been released.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing by officers from Wollongong Police District.
