After 23 years in charge, Salucci announced that he would be handing over the reins to the next generation. John Carusi steps into the role, with Salucci to provide mentoring support.
"John asked me to support him and I said 'that's not a drama at all'," he said.
"It makes sense with John. He's played at the club, he's been on the club committee for nearly five years and was my vice-president. He's young and will take the club forward."
Salucci oversaw a golden era for Port Kembla. During that 23-year period, the Zebras won six Illawarra Premier League championships and nine grand finals.
"It's been a privilege being president of this club," Salucci said.
"The timing was correct and I think the club, where it's situated and everything that's in place on and off the field, it was a good time to pass the baton on."
