Wollongong City Council is calling for tenders from food van vendors, who will be given permission to set up rent free for a year, to set up at a prominent site along the famous walk.
The successful business will be asked to provide beach furniture for visitors to rent, and should be "willing to obtain a relevant liquor licence" to allow for the sale and consumption of alcohol in the area.
They should also organise, arrange and curate live acoustic music performances for Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
The council says the food van will "add to the amenity and atmosphere" of the harbour area for the year, and the successful company will need to report back to the council with financial information and statistics relating to the patronage of the business and customer base.
The food van - which should be "aesthetically pleasing" - will operate from 7am to 6pm on weekdays, and 7am-7pm on weekends. It should serve food and drinks "to suit a range of tastes and budgets" and will not be able to be moved for the year-long contract.
Applicants will be judged on how their business will enhance the visitor experience, as well as their proposed menu, prices, environmental practices and any "innovative or unique ideas that will add value".
Tenders close on December 10, and the food van should be ready to start operating soon afterwards, from late December of January, the documents say.
