The two developments will deliver 22 new social housing residences and support 37 jobs.
Member for Kiama Gareth Ward said residents had been asked to comment on plans for a $4.2 million project with 12 new dwellings at Lindsay Street, Unanderra, and a $3.3 million, 10-dwelling project at Jemima Street, Unanderra during the recently completed public notification period.
Mr Ward said when the building work gets under way in early 2021 the projects will also help bolster local spending on businesses and trades.
He said the two housing renewal projects were among 50 being delivered under the NSW government's $400 million Fast Track Housing Construction Package, to help boost economic recovery from COVID-19 in local communities throughout our state.
Mr Ward said the new investment would accelerate social housing in the Illawarra and, in the process, support jobs and income for local businesses, tradespeople and apprentices.
"These housing renewal projects are supporting local vulnerable people who need the security and protection that goes with having a new home," Mr Ward said.
"This $7.5 million investment is also benefitting the local economy and community by prioritising local spending and providing local jobs that'll help keep a roof over the heads of other local families and food on their tables."

NSW Housing Minister Melinda Pavey said the package was not just about building hundreds of new homes throughout the state to support disadvantaged and vulnerable people. It was also about creating critically important jobs to support people and businesses who need them.
Overall the $400 million investment will create an estimated 800 direct and 1200 indirect jobs before and during construction.
The NSW Land and Housing Corporation is also implementing a $200 million maintenance stimulus program to upgrade more than 3500 social housing dwellings and support more work for tradespeople.
