The new eatery in Johnson Street offers locals and visitors locally sourced seafood cooked to order.
Fish Tribe is the second Kiama Downs foodie venue opened by Emma and Jason Young who are planning an official opening at 11.30am on Saturday with local musician Mark Crotti proving entertainment.
Since starting Stacks Burger House & Eatery two years ago they have enjoyed a loyal local following and become a popular choice among visitors to Kiama.
Fish Tribe is designed to provide an alternative to the usual frozen and pre-made fish and chips.
The couple have a fresh approach to seafood, using only quality produce from local suppliers, prepared and cooked to order with fresh market daily specials.
They believe traditional fish and chip lovers will savour the Battered Fish & Chips, Pan Fried Barramundi, Robertson Potato Scallop and Chilli Lime Squid with green salad, chips and tartare.
And that those looking for a healthier option will enjoy the Baja Fish Tacos with chipotle slaw, avocado tomato salsa and coriander; Poke Bowl with raw tuna or confit salmon, soba noodles, nori, edamame, pickled onion, radish and ponzu; or the Cold Seafood platter with sashimi, prawns, steamed spanner crab and South Coast oysters.
Summer specials will be a break away from the norm, with dishes including Fish Collars with nahm chim and Asian herb salad; Kingfish Ceviche with green chilli, mango and garlic crisp; and Fish Cheek Meat San Choy Bow.
Fish Tribe will also cater for children with $12 special meals.
For foodies wishing to avoid gluten the Youngs have installed a gluten free fryer to provide more food options.
The Kiama Downs couple are being joined by executive chef Robert Blackburn who has worked for Queen St Eatery in Berry, The Bridge Room and Cirrus Dining in Sydney.
"We are thrilled to welcome Robert on board and announce the opening of our latest venue," Mrs Young said.
"Robert has a really strong background and passion for seafood, and will be using only the freshest local seafood and produce the South Coast has to offer.
"Having tried out a pop-up menu with locals and visitors a few weeks ago, we now have a menu that we think will offer something for everyone, with fine dining quality that can be enjoyed anywhere."
Stacks Burger House & Eatery is also welcoming its new neighbour with a Summer Mexican Fiesta with 5.30pm and 7.30pm seatings.
Fish Tribe is located at 13 Johnson Street, Kiama Downs and is open Thursday to Sunday from 11.30am to 7.30pm.
