Pigeon House Mountain Didthul walking track in Morton National Park has been reopened by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), following essential safety works carried out following the 2019-20 summer bushfires and a significant upgrade of the lookout and walking track.

The walking track had been closed since December 2019 following the Currowan Fire, while NPWS cleared damage by the fire to trees, and reinstated damaged visitor infrastructure such as the picnic shelter and toilet.
Concurrently, NPWS has installed a new lookout to improve the safety and experience of park visitors.
The work program also included the stabilisation of boulders in the area.
NPWS South Coast Branch Director Kane Weeks thanked the South Coast community for their support while the work was carried out.
"The safety of visitors in national parks is always a priority, and we needed to ensure all repairs were complete before we could reopen," said Mr Weeks.
"Pigeon House Mountain Didthul walking track is one of the most popular walking tracks in Morton National Park, and includes forest, heathland and age-old sandstone with summit views accessible through a series of ladders.
"Despite being a formed track, it's still steep in parts and best to walk this track in dry weather. The five-kilometre return walk means some bushwalking experience is recommended."
