The post boxes can be found at libraries around Wollongong, with letters to be delivered direct to the North Pole in time for Christmas.
Boys and girls will need to be quick, as the mailboxes will only be around until December 12, while the jolly old fellow will be sending replies.
"Santa is a very busy person, so our staff will be working hard to make sure that every child who participates receives a reply from Santa," Wollongong Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery said.
"Don't forget to include your address on your letter before posting it. That way Santa and his Librarian helpers can make sure that you receive your reply quickly."
Once the elves take back the boxes, other letter-writing opportunities will pop up at Stockland Shellharbour from December 14 with Santa's helpers setting up a "House of Letters" until December 20.
Boys and girls are encouraged to stop and hand-write their letter to Santa - or anyone else they know - during the festive period.
