Bailey Foster was critically injured as he crossed the road at the corner of Waples Road and Mianga Crescent about 8.30am on Wednesday.
He was airlifted to Sydney Children's Hospital at Randwick, where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
There has been an outpouring of grief from friends, family and strangers, including many who have donated in support of Bailey's parents, Renee and David, as they make preparations for a funeral.
Bailey's aunt, Kayla Mathews, said the 10-year-old was the second-eldest of five children, with another sibling on the way.
He lit up every room he walked in with his ear-to-ear smile and just loved being in the company of all his family.

"As every parent's worst nightmare, you can imagine the complete shock of losing a child and how heartbroken Renee and David are," she wrote, in a gofundme appeal.
"They have such a hard long road ahead of them which is why I have set up this account to help ease the financial stress of funeral expenses and any other expense they may face."
Ms Mathews described her nephew as "fun and loving".
"A much-loved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to many," she wrote.
"He lit up every room he walked in with his ear-to-ear smile and just loved being in the company of all his family."
Ms Mathews said Bailey was on his way to school when he was hit, suffering a serious head injury.
"Unfortunately Bailey could not be saved due to the severity of his injuries."
Police have called on anyone with dashcam footage of the accident to come forward.
The 17-year-old driver of the car involved was afterwards taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the fund in support of Bailey's family had raised more than $6700 of the $10,000 target.
