They were identified as close contacts of a COVID case after Mrs Dus had an eye examination at Proust Optical, located inside Figtree Grove, on December 21.
They now have to isolate at home for several days, even if they receive a negative result.
"I'd been to the optometrist on that day, and had taken my daughter, so knew I needed to be tested," she said.
"I headed out at 8am on Wednesday but saw the huge line-up at Wollongong Hospital so went to a drive-through testing clinic instead.
"After two hours there I left, but when I got home I got a call from NSW Health who told me to go back for testing.
"I was prioritised because I was a close contact so was put at the front of the queue back at Wollongong Hospital."
Mrs Dus said she'd had no symptoms, and was hoping to be cleared.
"It has been such a challenging year though, and now this," she said.
"My husband has been tested too and doesn't need to isolate once he gets a negative result.
"However my daughter and I will have to isolate for 14 days since the appointment regardless of the result.
"It will be hard to isolate from my husband in a small, two-bedroom apartment but we will do our best."
Mrs Dus said she was not required to wear a mask at the appointment, neither was the optometrist wearing a mask.
Meantime, Proust Optical Figtree released a statement on their Facebook page on Wednesday morning.
The store has closed after it was confirmed a COVID-19 positive case from Wollongong attended the optometrist.
"Despite our diligent efforts in practising COVID safety in the workplace, it is with heavy hearts that NSW Health has informed us that a coronavirus close contact was present in the practice," the statement from staff read.
"A deep clean is being undertaken and we will reopen when we are sure it is safe to do so.
"Please go to the NSW Health site for further information, as well as to avoid misinformation.
"Your safety is our number one priority and we will continue to work with NSW Health to ensure that the practice is a safe environment to return to.
"Thank you for all the messages of support and kindness, it means a lot to us at this difficult time. We wish all our clients and staff to stay safe over this troubling time."
NSW Health advises anyone who attended the venue on Monday, December 21 between 9.30am and 5pm and Wednesday, December 23 between 9.30am and 2pm is a casual contact and must get tested and self-isolate until they receive a negative result. You should continue to monitor for symptoms and if any symptoms occur, get tested again. Close contacts from this venue will be contacted by NSW Health.
