A father who was enjoying a picnic with his family on the weekend before a tree branch fell on his head has died in hospital.

A 65-year-old man from Parramatta was having lunch with his wife, son and daughter-in-law on Sunday about 2pm at Cataract Dam picnic area when in a freak accident, a heavy tree branch fell onto him.
The man went into traumatic cardiac arrest.
Dapto woman, Kylie Smith was nearby with her family, and went to help the man who's head was craddled in his son's lap.
Ms Smith performed CPR compressions on the man, with the assistance of her brother-in-law and a Water NSW employee, for about 20 minutes until paramedics arrived.
She used a defibrillator and compressions, which is learnt from doing rugby league training, to maintain a rhythm while listening to a Triple 0 operator.
The man was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital where he remained in a critical condition.
He needed to be shocked nine times by paramedics before he was stable to move.
The man tragically succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
