A rescue operation is underway on the Wadi Wadi Track near Stanwell Park where a bushwalker has suffered a serious ankle injury while hiking in the area.

Police and ambulance are at the scene near Stanwell Park Railway Station and a rescue helicopter has been called down from Sydney to help with the rescue of a 54 year old woman.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said the rescue is taking a while. Because of the terrain they are having difficulty extricating the patient.
