The Huskisson product made six saves as the Bulls charged into history with a 1-0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers at Bankwest Stadium on Wednesday night.
It was an impressive debut for Federici, who signed with the league newbies in late July. The 35-year-old brings a wealth of experience, having played in more than 280 games for various English Premier and Championship League clubs.
The performance didn't skip the attention of Bulls head coach Ante Milicic.
"When you have a start-up club, you look at not only good players but good characters. Good professionals who have been around experienced change rooms and that's what Adam does and what he brings to the team," he said.
"What we noticed the most is the way he talks and coaches players, and he communicates well. Not only off the field, but on the field. He talks so much at training, you can always hear him communicating to the defenders in front of him. He really has come back here with a strong desire to not only play, but win. He's a winner.
"He had a fantastic game, but at the same time, those saves that he made come as no surprise to anyone involved with Macarthur Football Club because we've seen that regularly, not only at training but in our friendly games. 'Fedders' was excellent, but if you even asked him, he wouldn't be surprised with what he did because that just shows his quality."
Milicic now hopes to see Federici - and Macarthur's defensive unit as a whole - perform consistently in games.
"They'll get better as the time goes on. Being a new club, the players haven't played together so it's that understanding and that co-ordination that you need, particularly for a defending group, not only without the ball but when we do have it as well," he said.
"But they're getting better. Hopefully we can get a bit of stability there, I'm not sure how that's going to look like when the fixture list becomes piled up in the upcoming months. But it's very important that we've got a lot of experience there, the understanding's there. So far in a short space of time, I'm delighted with how they're going."
While happy with their inaugural victory, the Bulls had little time to celebrate. Preparations are in full swing for Sunday's first home match at Campbelltown Stadium against Central Coast Mariners.
"As a new club coming into the league, you need to be competitive. Not only as a new club, but for the league. We have 12 teams and everyone's looking at you as the new club. For us to win on the first start was important but it's just the start," Milicic said.
"Hopefully we can get some good local support behind us and grow with confidence, it's a good platform for the season moving forward. We've said all the time, we knew it would be difficult, but at the same time we've got a lot of good people at the club. So hopefully we can justify why we're in the league and add value to it."
