The end result is a venture called 'Young blokes looking for work', launched last September.

Stanwell Park's Callum Thomson, 17, and Luke Hoefsloot, 17, are business studies students at Bulli High.

While Luke retained some work refereeing junior football last year, Callum lost his part-time pizza restaurant job due to the pandemic.

Therefore, with some help from their parents and having their own transport, they set up a Facebook page for their new business.

"The first job we got, was Luke's neighbour had about three-and-a-half tonnes of clay, rocks and hard soil, all piled up in a really bad spot, just where an excavator couldn't get it," Callum said.

"So on the shovels and wheelbarrow, we had to just bring it around the side of the house and dump it just next to the road."

They have since been seeking work, primarily around the 2508 area during after school hours, weekends and school holidays.

They can accept jobs outside of this postcode, but will charge a travel fee.

They've already been hired for jobs like mulching, digging, cleaning gutters, weeding and other garden work, as well as cleaning up at construction sites.

"We had an opportunity to work together doing labouring, odd jobs, moving objects, mulching and clearing out unwanted items for council clean-up," Callum said.

"(We were) basically doing jobs no one else wanted to do.

"We are keen, enthusiastic and reliable local blokes keen to help out, clean out places, make life easier for those too hard jobs or awkward jobs - which some people can't handle - for a bit of money.

"What we've learnt in business studies we've applied to the real world, and earned some pocket money.

"It's been going really well - we've just been advertising on Facebook."

Both of the teens have a NSW white card (or general construction induction card), which is required for workers who want to carry out construction work.

"We thought we'd get a couple of jobs here and there, but not as many as we've had," Luke said.

They're available for further work after January 16.
