A dark BMW sedan with Shane Robert Kemp allegedly at the wheel came to police attention as it sped through the intersection of Berry and Worrigee streets at Nowra about 7am on December 28.

According to police, the car was travelling so fast, officers lost sight of it and got on their radios to call on other officers to keep watch for it.

After only a few minutes police spotted it being driven out of the McDonald's drive-thru on Plunkett St.

Police activated lights and sirens after Kemp, 33, of Nowra, allegedly accelerated harshly away and ran a red light at the intersection of Plunkett and Kinghorne streets.

Highway patrol later gave chase on Albatross Road and then onto the 50km/h-zoned Albert Street, where Kemp allegedly accelerated to more than 100km/h. He allegedly crossed the Kinghorne Street intersection at 90km/h without braking.

Police allege he later accelerated to 120km/h in the 70kh/h-zoned Princes Highway, and ran a red arrow turning onto Kalandar Street.

The chase continued at high speed, with Kemp allegedly cutting a corner on Young Avenue and again shattering the signposted speed limits on multiple streets.

The pursuit came to an end at Tarraba Crescent and Greenwell Point Road, after one police car drove into the intersection, boxing in the BMW, and another pulled in to block it from behind.

Kemp was removed from the driver's seat with the engine still running. He was charged with seven offences including police pursuit and driving unregistered, uninsured and having never held a licence.

Police opposed his release on bail in court on Monday, noting his extensive traffic history.

"These are serious offences and the public was put at great risk," Sgt Leah Argent told the court.

"It shows a complete disregard for the road rules, and if granted bail it is my submission that he will continue to disobey the road rules, as he has in the past."

Bail was refused. The matter returns to Nowra Local Court January 11.
