The 77-year-old man was sitting inside a dark blue Toyota Corolla parked on the roadside at Northcliffe Drive about 4.35pm Wednesday, when a truck allegedly veered over white lines. It passed into the parking lane and hit the car from behind.
The Corolla was badly damaged and the man was unable to get out through his warped driver's-side door.
Both drivers were taken into ambulances to be assessed by paramedics at the scene.
The Mercury understands neither man needed transporting to hospital.
Police and firefighters also attended the crash, with one lane closed to passing traffic.
The collision caused minor traffic delays in both directions.
Any witnesses to the collision should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
