About 10.30am on Saturday, emergency services were called to Sheehans Road at Candelo, near the intersection of Towidgee Lane, after reports a quad bike had lost control and left the road before rolling several times, ejecting the rider.
Members of the public went to the rider's aid until the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics.
However, the 57-year-old man died at the scene.
Officers from South Coast Police District established a crime scene and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
