The Sydney talent finished a men's open race with a time of 9.96 seconds - albeit with a +3.3m/s wind assistance - at the 2021 Illawarra Track Challenge at Kerry McCann Athletics Centre. Browning claimed victory from Macarthur athlete Joshua Azzopardi, who finished the race in 10.29 seconds.
The result means 23-year-old Browning is the first Aussie to crack the 10-second barrier since Patrick Johnson registered a 100-metre time of 9.93 seconds in Mito, Japan in 2003.
The current world record of 9.58 seconds was set by Jamaican superstar Usain Bolt in 2009.
