The import dropped 16 points to guide the Hawks to victory over the Bullets in their season opener. But he took his game to another level on Monday night, mustering 25 points and seven rebounds to lead his team to a 92-76 win over Cairns.
It was a huge statement from the Hawks, who are 2-0 - a first in the club's 43-year history - and lead the NBL at the conclusion of round one.
And Harvey's impact hasn't gone unnoticed by his coach, Brian Goorjian.
"He ran the team from the floor. It's such a pleasant experience to be in there and just being able to talk to the guys, and let him do the play calls. I let him run the team, let him change the defenses. He was just tremendous [on Monday night]," he said.
"I'm really proud of the team and I just keep talking about how this group has been since I arrived. I think it's special as far as closeness, energy and hard work, and wanting to get better. My message to them is that's fine, this is entertainment. Put it on the floor and let people see it. And I think you saw that tonight. We're not going to be perfect, we're going to make mistakes - this is a tough league.
"But it's early days and we just want to keep getting better. This game was better than the last one."
Harvey was the first import to sign with the new-look Hawks on a one-year deal last July. The 27-year-old had built a reputation as a prolific scorer, highlighted by dropping 58 points for the Memphis Hustle in the NBA G-League last season.
While pleased with his start in the NBL, Harvey is happy to heap praise onto his Hawks teammates.
"We have a great team. We have so many different weapons that we can use so they make my job easier," the guard said.
"Coach has put in a great game plan for us and we just have to go out and execute it. It's not always going to be pretty and we're going to make mistakes, But at the end of the day, we've got to play through those mistakes, stay consistent and just keep moving forward."
The Hawks' 2-0 start has come despite them being on the road since leaving Wollongong on Boxing Day.
Amid the COVID chaos, the side spent a fortnight in Albury before moving to Cairns for the opening rounds of the rejigged NBL season. However, Harvey insists the Hawks have been able to keep focusing on the next task at hand.
"We're just taking it one day at a time, that's been our message since day one. We've been all over the place, we've been in different cities and different hotels," he said.
"But for us, it's just about trying to get better every day. We're hoping to improve and be better tomorrow than we were today, and I think that's going to have to be our mentality. Like coach always tells us, don't really worry about the score, that will take care of itself. We're just trying to take this one day at a time."
I let Tyler run the team, let him change the defences. He was just tremendous [on Monday night].
