Sally Heading, who boasts a "wealth of major international cycling event experience" has been appointed as head of event services and operations for the 2022 UCI World Road Championships in Wollongong.

A senior manager of international cycling events and with a background in tourism, Ms Heading has more than ten years of experience within the sport.
This includes her role as sport manager for track cycling at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and event manager for the Santos Tour Down Under.
Her tourism background includes executive roles with Events South Australia, the events division of the South Australian Tourism Commission, and manager of city activation at the City of Holdfast Bay.
Ms Heading will work with the UCI, AusCycling, the NSW Government and Wollongong City Council to deliver the 2022 UCI Road World Championships.
Ms Heading said she was looking forward to working with the local community to deliver one of the world's most important and prestigious events in 2022.
"I'm delighted to be joining the Wollongong 2022 team and am looking forward to working with our event partners and Wollongong locals to deliver a world-class cycling festival that will create a lasting legacy for the community," she said.
"This is a wonderful opportunity to not only introduce the world of cycling to Wollongong, but more importantly showcase Wollongong to the world, by delivering an international festival of cycling."
Ms Heading will begin in early February, and will be relocating from Adelaide to Wollongong for the role.
Ms Heading was appointed by Wollongong 2022 Limited, the local organising committee for the 2022 UCI Road World Championships.

"She brings a wealth of major international cycling event experience to her role which will be invaluable as we build a world-class team to host the largest ever event to take place in Wollongong."
