"What we're going to see over the next few days are those northerly winds picking up, so it looks more likely that we'll see further marine wind warnings, and conditions becoming quite breezy along the coast," Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Gabrielle Woodhouse said on Sunday.
"So this means for anyone that's going to be out fishing or anywhere near the marine waters, that it's best to be prepared, know the conditions, know the forecast conditions, and work to your own abilities."
A warning has already been issued for the Illawarra coast for Monday.
The region is also in for a couple more warmer days, with Wollongong forecast to hit 29 degrees on Monday and 33 on Tuesday.
Nowra is expected to swelter through maximum temperatures of 35 degrees and 37 degrees over the next two days.
With warmer weather across the state, NSW Ambulance Inspector Kay Armstrong asked people to look after themselves and others, as well as their pets.
She said people should avoid going out in the middle of the day, minimise exposure to the heat, and carry water when out.
Inspector Armstrong also urged vigilance around the water.
Ms Woodhouse said there would not be much relief until late on Tuesday or even into Wednesday.
"This is when we see a trough that's going to start to move through NSW," she said.
"So on Tuesday we'll see some relief across the very far south of the state, and that will spread further north as that trough moves further north going into Wednesday."
On Wednesday, Wollongong's maximum temperature is forecast to fall to 22 degrees, while Nowra can expect a top of 21 degrees.
