Two women charged with the alleged stabbing and kidnapping of a 24-year-old woman who was found in the boot of a car have been refused bail.
Letia Henderson, 18, of Campbelltown and Kayley Lee Ketley, 24, of Macquarie Fields appeared by video link in Picton Local Court on Thursday on several charges related to the alleged stabbing.
Henderson has been charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm, take and drive conveyance without consent of the owner, never licensed person drive vehicle on road - prior offence.
Her lawyer Gazi Abbas did not apply for bail. She will re-appear before Campbelltown Local Court on April 7.
Co-accused Ketley has been charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasioning actual bodily harm, take and drive conveyance without consent of the owner, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period and possession of a prohibited drug.
She represented herself in court and applied for bail.
Ketley said her grandmother was "very sick" and had two knee replacements. She said she was required to care for her grandmother.
She said she would report daily to the police and would do "whatever it takes".
Magistrate Douglass said the allegations were "very serious."
"Do you understand?" he asked. "This case is a show cause case to consider release.
"I must stress that these are very serious allegations and you don't have a lawyer.
"You have a right of self-recrimination.
"I advise you to consider carefully bail applications without a lawyer."
Police prosecutor Sargent Danks said they felt that cause "did not meet the threshold".
Magistrate Douglass said, "in relation to this [case] cause has not been shown as to why the court should consider release."
Bail was formally refused.
Ketley has been scheduled to reappear in Campbelltown Local Court on April 7.
