Six properties in Wollongong would be demolished to allow for two 15-storey towers to be built, according to a development application lodged with Wollongong City Council.

The development would see a two-storey podium constructed with two 15-storey towers above which feature 272 residential apartments.
Of those 47 will be one-bedroom apartments, 200 will be two bedrooms and just three will be three-bedroom units.
The development will include 334 parking spaces.

"Vehicular access to the site is from the east and west boundaries of Atchison Street and Kenny Street," the application stated.
"Entrance from Atchison Street to the western boundary will be the primary entrance for cars and motorcycles to access the car parking areas located at basement levels and level one."
The developer has lodged a revised development application following advice from council that reduces the non-residential floor space on the ground level and level two from 2425 square metres down to 1911 square metres.
Also, a planned supermarket that was on the original application has been removed and replaced with four smaller retail tenancies.
Two extra lifts in each tower have also been added, following feedback from council and the Wollongong Design Review Panel.
The application noted the area immediately south of the Wollongong CBD "is expected to undergo significant change" due to increases in the allowed building height.
"Land will be (and already has been) acquired and amalgamated and swathes of existing warehousing and commercial development will be demolished," the application stated.
"In its place, high density mixed use and residential accommodation and development aimed to support investment and business will replace and thus alter the character of the area."
