Luke from Leisure Coast Bait & Tackle at Corrimal reported as the weather abated, there was another red-hot marlin bite last Sunday both locally and down at Jervis Bay.

One elated angler scored himself a near 20-kilograms dolphin fish whilst trolling for marlin.
Most of the local billies were striped. However, Jervis Bay had a good mix of blacks and stripes with the majority of the fish coming from the 70-80 fathom line.
The water temperature had dropped a bit, but it didn't deter the biters - with a couple of fish being pulled from water just below the 20-degrees mark.
By all reports the fishing conditions should only get better, with plenty of warm water still pouring 'down the hill'.
The snapper have been getting a bit of rest lately with the marlin run being relatively close to shore.
However, there were quite a few caught over the weekend as well as teraglin, trevally and plenty of frigate mackerel bobbing up over the last week.
Most of the better reds came from the wider marks off Bandit and Wollongong reefs, but there were also some good fish caught in the shallows during afternoon and dusk sessions.
The forecast his week is for better weather and, hopefully, we will see some great captures as many anglers have been sidelined due to poor conditions these past few weeks.
Rocks are still producing plenty of good fish including kings, bonito, salmon and tailor.
There have been some frigate mackerel off certain spots but they should thicken up over the next week or so and we should shortly see them doing laps of all the local harbours and boat ramps.
There have been some excellent trevally and bream off the stones, as well as drummer and luderick.
Once the sea had settled slightly last week, many locals hit the beaches in pursuit of a mulloway, with quite a few school fish caught.
But doubtless the best catch must go to Adam Goode, who pulled his personal best snapper off a patch of sand last week with a 70-centimetres model from the middle of the beach. It gave him plenty of curry.
Berry lasses scoop pool at estuary comp
Craig from Compleat Angler Windang said the estuaries are a mixed bag at the moment but if you put in the time, have the right bait and are willing to move around, you should catch fish.
The estuary results were there to see during the weigh-in for South Coast Fishing Club's Estuary competition last weekend at Lakeview Hotel.
There were some outstanding bags of several species including whiting, bream, flathead, mullet and trevally - and a couple of other species depending on where they fished.
Several estuaries were fished including St Georges Basin, Shoalhaven and, of course, Lake Illawarra and they all produced fish.
The standout was Berry Fishing Club's all-girl junior team which took out all the top spots in junior sections.
It was great to see and would not have happened if parents and grandparents didn't take the kids fishing and instill the fun and joy that family fishing can bring.
On local beaches, salmon and tailor have been hanging in close to the corners, feeding on small gars that are schooling there. Metal spinners or a ganged pillie whitebait or gar should get you hooked up.
There have been some good catches of mack tuna off the rocks lately with fish in the 2 to 3-kilograms range.
The macks are very early but providing some relief and fun to starved rock fishos waiting for the bonito to arrive.
Mack tuna make a great bait for bream and snapper or pretty much anything that eats flesh baits and are also heaps of fun on lighter line if you are willing to risk the possibility of hooking something big.
$240k up for grabs in Pertek bonanza
Entries are open for the 2021 Pirtek Fishing Challenge to be held on April 17-18th and organisers have amassed a massive $240,000 in cash and prizes.
This year, a few changes see the event held over two days and moved back a month to April. Entrants can also upload one photo per target species instead of one photo in total.
To make life a little easier, competitors will be issued with their angler number when they register and will need to add a challenge codeword as well as their angler number to all brag mat photos.
The codeword will be advertised on the website after 6pm on Friday, April 16.
