A 73-year-old woman has been taken to hospital after being attacked during a home invasion in Port Kembla on Tuesday morning.

Police were told a male stranger forced his way into the Fitzwilliam Street house just before 7am and assaulted the elderly woman, before turning on a male neighbour, aged in his 40s, who came to assist.
The man fled on foot empty-handed and both residents were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
A crime scene was established and detectives from Lake Illawarra Police District have commenced inquiries.
As investigations continue, detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen a man in the area around the time of the incident.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 30s and wearing dark clothing and a dark face mask.
