However, club president Claude Guido believes co-coaches Goran Trajceski and Chris Peros have what it takes to lead the Rangers to premiership success.
Guido unveiled the duo as new IPL coaches exclusively to the Mercury on Thursday, just days after the club parted ways with Nathan Minutillo and Fabian Cappetta.
It's a situation that Trajceski and Goran are familiar with. They took over at Albion Park after Jason Davkovski's sudden departure last July, guiding the White Eagles to the 2020 finals.
Guido said he was pleased the board could appoint the duo so quickly, with a month left until the IPL kicks off.
"Because of what's happened, the morale of the squad was a little bit down. Obviously this is like groundhog day for us," he said.
"For the morale of the club and the players, I think 'Gons' and Chris will be fantastic for that. They're characters, that's what we need at the moment. We need to get some smiles on the faces of the players, that's what's been lacking and missing... and we can move on.
"Obviously a few people called us and there were a few people that we thought were ideal. It came down to those guys for exactly what happened (to them last season). They were thrown in the deep end and they had a successful year."

Minutillo and Cappetta joined the Rangers last November, a month after they led Oak Flats to the District League premiership.
They took over the reins from the departing Rob Jonovski, whose successful stint included guiding Corrimal to the 2019 IPL grand final win. Jonovski had been announced as their coach after Davkovski's sudden departure in March 2019.
Guido said things just didn't work out for the club with Minutillo and Cappetta.
"Unfortunately, we had different things on where we should be at I suppose. So we thought we best nip it now which gave us a month to sign somebody, and go from there," the club president said.
"We've been in this position a few times and it may look like I'm a big, bad boy and I tend to just sack coaches. But it's not always like it all seems to be. And in seven years, we've gone from almost being extinct to winning a grand final in Premier League. Tough decisions sometimes have to made for the betterment of the club and our players."

For Minutillo, it was a disappointing way to finish his short stint at the Rangers. The coach admitted he might some time away from football.
"We were really looking forward to getting the season on, but it wasn't to be. We had different paths I guess," he said.
"I'd honestly like a bit of a break, but if something comes up, I'll consider it. But I want to get back to being able to play some golf, it's something I've missed. I don't know what's going to happen in the future, but we'll see what happens."
