Now in its sixth year, Fairy Meadow business Pasticceria Massimo Papa's self-proclaimed 'Cannoli Day' was a hit with customers on Sunday.
One of Italy's most famous desserts dating back to between 830 and 1000 AD, a cannoli is a form of pastry that originated on the island of Sicily.
Most cannoli consist of tube-shaped shells of deep fried pastry dough that are then filled with a slightly sweet and creamy filling that's usually made from ricotta cheese.
Sicilian-born pastry chef Massimo Papa arrived at work at midnight in preparation for the day.
He said although the event attracted fewer Sydney punters this year due to less promotion amid the COVID-19 pandemic, he estimated they'd sold about 11,000 cannoli by 3pm.
