A council spokeswoman said a "lone individual had climbed up the Norfolk Pine with climbing gear and roped a lounge 30 metres up into the branches".
There were reports the person then sat on the lounge and had a beer before making their way back down to the ground.
On Monday, Council's qualified arborists used an elevated work platform to remove the lounge.
"The Norfolk pine tree received some minor damage to a number of branches following this incident," the spokeswoman said.
"Our arborists have had to prune a number of branches that were snapped and remove fallen branches from around the tree."
She asked if people had information about who hoisted the lounge up the tree to contact council or the NSW Police.
