Sweeney Todd, a dark musical about a 19th century barber who murders his customers, is their first foray on the stage since the pandemic began and is running at the Miner's Lamp Theatre until March 20.
Johnny Depp brought Todd to life in the 2007 Hollywood adaption (which also starred Helena Bonham Carter and Alan Rickman).
"Up to 30 people can sing now, but you still can't sing face to face," Arcadians president Liza Allen.
"Team have worked really hard in navigating sand choreographing it to be COVID-friendly ... but it's really challenging to be COVID-safe when you're murdering people."
The show was originally supposed to be presented last March but the pandemic got in the way.
It's mean the whole production team has "lived and breath it for six months" in anticipation for their theatre to reopen, Ms Allen said.
Aside from extra time to rehearse lines and create props, the company has used the downtime to upgrade their theatre with new lighting, curtains, paint and a spruced up foyer.
They can still only run at 70 per cent capacity, but that's far better than non at all.
Ms Allen said their 2020 season has been "flipped" to 2021; their next show after Sweeney will be Ladies in Black.
Sweeney Todd the Musical, opens at the Miner's Lamp Theatre in Corrimal, Friday March 5 and runs until March 20.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to nineteenth century London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife.
The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which, he opens a new barber practice.
Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up... and the carnage has only just begun.
