A 47-year-old woman has been killed while three children were injured following a serious multi-vehicle car crash in the south-bound lanes of the M1 Princes Highway at Figtree, near the Masters Road off-ramp.on Friday night.

Paramedics arrived at 7.15pm and treated four patients ranging in ages with multiple injuries after they were trapped but then released from the wreckage.
NSW Police later confirmed a 47 year old woman had died at the scene after two vehicles, including a Holden Statesman and a Nissan Juke, both travelling south, collided.
One child was transported to Wollongong Hospital then driven to Westmead Children's Hospital in a serious condition with another child transported to Wollongong Hospital then airlifted to Westmead Children's Hospital in a serious condition.
One teenager was airlifted to Westmead Children's Hospital in a critical condition.
The 15-year-old is listed as critical, and two boys aged 5 and 10 are stable.
The 29-year-old driver of the Nissan, and her 32-year-old male passenger were uninjured. The driver was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said 12 crews attended the five-car accident as well as two rescue helicopters.
NSW Ambulance Acting Inspector Nathan O'Brien said "no words could describe the scene that we were faced this evening".
"Going to a road accident when we know there are children involved is always difficult for first responders," he said.
"Multiple patients with serious injuries can create a very challenging environment for paramedic crews.
"It is our responsibility to do everything we can to provide life-saving treatment.
"Despite the best effort from paramedics sadly one patient died at the scene."
Fire and Rescue NSW and other emergency services were also at the scene.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and use an alternate route as both directions of the motorway were closed.
Southbound motorists were diverted via Princes Highway through Figtree, then Five Islands Road to join the motorway.
Northbound motorists were diverted onto Five Islands Road towards the Princes Highway.
The crash is now being investigated by officers from the Southern Region Crash Investigation Unit.
As inquiries continue, police are appealing to any witnesses to the crash or anyone who might have dash cam footage to contact crash investigators.
