The funding will make a significant impact to the organisation as demand for the service grows.
Friends for Life Rescue's operation involves re-homing cats and kittens that come into their care.
It is receiving the $2000 grant after winning the latest public vote in the #GreaterIllawarra community funding program.
Other recipients in March include the Lakeview Hockey Club and Dapto Little Athletics Centre which each receive $500 in funding.
Friends for Life Rescue was established as a volunteer group in the Illawarra 18 months ago to rescue pets from a wide range of situations.
Its volunteers provide medical and other treatment before linking the cats and kittens with appropriate families looking to adopt a rescue pet.
