"The weather forecast for Kiama, the Shoalhaven and the Southern Highlands have consistently worsened during the past few days," a statement said.
"On Wednesday March 17 at 4.30pm, 90mm to 200mm of rain was forecast for Saturday, making the course unsafe."
The cancellation means the planned road closures will not take place.
There are plans to hold the race in early December.
