Bachelor of Computer Science student Tynan Matthews plans to major in cybersecurity and network security to help drive innovation in Australian technology.
Hunter de Jong's main interests are in mechatronics, in the field of automated robotics and technology. The scholarship will allow him to further look into the use of exoskeletons for the disabled.
Joseph Ross-Ward is fascinated by the capabilities of technology. He is currently studying to develop his skills in the industry with the hope of creating a technological invention that can help and improve people's lives.
Bachelor of Electrical Engineering student Harry Briese hopes to delve into the changing landscape of energy production to ultimately improve the efficiency and sustainability of electrical systems in Australia.
Isabella Grando has a passion in engineering and sustainability, particularly renewable energy to help drive change and solve some of the world's biggest problems.
Bachelor of Mechatronic Engineering student, Zoe Cooper, is passionate about renewable energy and said the scholarship would help her build networking skills and gain industry experience through internships and mentoring opportunities.
"The scholarship will help me financially and let me fully concentrate on my studies," Zoe said.
"I would like to pursue a Master's degree after I complete my degree at UOW and find opportunities to contribute to Australia's renewable energy industry."
UOW student Eden Walters also received a scholarship.
Each year the Westpac Scholars Trust awards up to 100 scholarships to promising scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs and ambitious thinkers who are determined to find creative new ways to solve problems facing our communities.
Since its inception, the Trust has supported more than 470 Scholars. This year more than $4.7 million in scholarships will be awarded. Beyond financial support, each recipient will get a bespoke leadership development program.
