Karen and Lance Green arrived to open their establishment, Yarnsy's Cafe on Meadows Street, on Wednesday morning to find a burglar or burglars had forced their way into the building, dumped the till on the floor and taken gold coins to the sum of $30 to $40.
On February 25, their business was also targeted by thieves, who made off with several hundreds of dollars in cash.
They have only owned the business for 10 months.
"It's very disheartening, it's disappointing," Mrs Green said.
Not only do they have spend money fixing the back door, which was jimmied open, but they will have to invest in security cameras.
The incident at the cafe was one in a spate of break-ins and attempted break-ins in Wollongong's northern suburbs that same night.
Offenders also targeted a restaurant, brewery and grocer in Tarrawanna, a cafe, two hairdressing salons and a physiotherapist in Fairy Meadow, a bottle shop in Corrimal, and a supermarket in Thirroul.
Tools were also stolen from a work vehicle in East Corrimal, and number plates were stolen from cars in Gwynneville and Fairy Meadow.

It is not known if all the crimes were connected.
Despite their misfortune, Mrs Green said good had come out of the crimes.
She said they had received so many positive comments on social media, which made them feel supported and part of the community.
One customer, a local mechanic, has already brought along a spare security camera of his so they can start monitoring the premises.
Mrs Green said they were grateful for the support of the community.
