Tomorrowland is the sixth solo studio albums for the musician who will kick off a national tour of 14 shows mid-year, including the Heritage Hotel on June 16.
"What a relief it is to be going back to work and see some semblance of normality slowly start to creep back into our lives," Evans told the Mercury.
"It's still all very different to the way that it was and there are all sorts of challenges and logistics in the way now that weren't there before but that's just the way that it is for the moment."
Originally from Perth, Evans moved to Victoria in 2008 and found the past year "a real grind", though did take some positives as well.
"I did not play a show between February and November and did almost 20 weeks of home learning with my two young children while schools were closed," he said.
"We live right near the beach so everyday we would take long walks as a family. We had never spent so much time all together before, I wasn't travelling away, the kids were home all the time. It was an enforced break from work.
"It did get dark at times though and I do think many Victorians and particularly Melbournians will have come out of it quite emotionally and psychologically scarred."
As life is slowly being breathed back into the music and entertainment industry, Evans said he loved the idea the country will be able to focus attention on Australian acts until international borders reopen.
"It could actually be a great opportunity for local artists as they emerge back out onto the stage to get in front of more people, or be offered festival spots that would ordinarily be filled by international acts," he said.
In between solo gigs Evans will swap hats to morph back into a rock guitarist from Jebediah for the Spring Loaded festival also touring the country.
The event brings together some of the biggest alternative rock bands from the 1990's and 2000's like Grinspoon, Frenzal Rhomb, You Am I and Custard in a nod to festivals gone by.
