After their victory over Football NSW Institute last weekend, a brace from Illawarra veteran Michelle Carney helped the Rays make it 2-0 to open their Women's NSW NPL campaign.
The Rays were buoyed by the return of W-League star Caitlin Cooper, but coach Bruce Tilt credited the club's depth for setting up the win.
"The most satisfying thing about it was that if you look at our backline, Sophie Emery in goals was just great, and then we had Alicia Meuronen, Casey Johnson and Bronte Pyke, these are all players who have come through reserve grade and they're starting to put their hand up for first grade," Tilt said. "They all stood up and said 'here I am, I can do the job'. And when you've got people like Caitlin Cooper and Erica Halloway saying I'm happy to play with these girls, it's a good feeling around the club."
