Police were called to the sportsground about 1pm when an altercation broke out during the under 18s Group Seven Rugby League match between the Kiama Knights and Milton-Ulladulla Bulldogs.
The incident is believed to have followed a visiting player being sin-binned.
Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended and started inquiries.
"Police have been told two females - aged 14 and 43 - were involved in a verbal dispute, before the older woman allegedly hit the girl," a police spokesperson said.
"The girl sustained redness and bruising as a result but did not require hospital treatment.
"Investigations are continuing."
The incident was captured on camera by Bar TV Sports.
The footage appears to show the woman running at a teenage girl and striking her in the head area, before the pair are separated by bystanders.
A scrum ensues as several people attempt to break up the incident.
With the incident currently being looked at by law enforcement, Group Seven president Scott McLaurin said he was disappointed it happened.
"The incident is with the police at the moment and we will wait to see what comes from them before we make any decisions on potential bans," he said.
"We've worked hard over the past few years to try and eradicate violence from our game, so this is obviously quite disappointing from our perspective.
"Violence doesn't have a place in our sport and I hope something like this doesn't occur again."
