According to Pricefinder, it sold for $2,763,000.
The three-bedroom, three-bathroom house was on the market for just seven days, and had a price guide of $2,100,000 to $2,300,000.
The property was built and owned by the late butcher Bruce Elvy and his widow Lynette, who bought it as a vacant block in 1988 for $40,000.
Mr Keating, who was PM from 1991 to 1996, is based in Sydney's inner city.
The selling agents were Stone Real Estate's Helena and Greg Crumpton.
"He's bought it just as a weekender or holiday house, like a lot of Sydney buyers do," Mr Crumpton said.
"It's a nice home close to the waterfront."
