After much hard work, Festival Director Adam Loxley said he is thrilled to bring the festival back.
"Trying to organise an event when there are so many uncertainties is really really hard to do," he said.
"It's like you have to do twice the amount of work, because you have to come up with the plan that you'd like to do, and then an alternative plan if all else fails due to COVID.
"So I'm really happy we've managed to get it off the ground."
With some restrictions still in place, Mr Loxley said the festival will look "fairly normal" given that people are now allowed to dance.
"The green light for the festival to go ahead really came when it was announced that people could dance again," he said.
"The cool thing about the festival is dancing at the Town Hall, I couldn't imagine it would have been the same without dancing.
"The only thing that people will notice is that there'll be a reduced capacity because we just can't have as many people. We've got to apply the two square meter rule."
Coming out of the pandemic, Mr Loxley said supporting the local arts is "more important than ever."
"It's important to support local talent because the arts has been the last thing to come back," he said.
"There are certain sectors that haven't really bounced back at all, with tourism being one, but the arts is especially one that's struggling."
Established in 2015, the festival was born out of Mr Loxley seeing a need for live music to play after the annual Werri Slash Surf Competition.
"I used to go and sit on the beach and watch the surf crowd cheer. And I used to mention to my friends that there should be something on afterwards because it's always such a good day," he said.
"After years of complaining about it, I decided to do something myself and we put on some live music at the bowling club and did that for a couple of years. As it got a bit bigger, we moved it up to the town hall."
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the festival will be going ahead on different dates as the surf competition this year.
The festival will be held at the Gerringong Town Hall and Park, June 11 and 12.
