Emergency services were called to an apartment complex about 3.15am on February 25, where they found a 23-year-old man with a leg injury caused by a gunshot.
He was taken to Wollongong Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
After extensive inquiries, police arrested a 29-year-old man at a corrections facility on Wednesday morning.
He was charged with discharging a firearm intending to cause grievous bodily harm, possessing a shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority, possessing a loaded firearm endangering life in a non-public place, and driving a vehicle on road having never been licensed.
The man is due to face Wollongong Local Court on Thursday.
