Designed and built by GreenSpace Management, the $500,000 course will be the first 'SHANX' mini golf facility built in the country and according to Shellharbour City Council is expected to generate about 30,000 visitors annually.
SHANX is a scaled-down version of a full-size golf course.
It features a course to suit beginners and budding golfers, as well as one to test the most ardent golfers.
Council took operational control of The Links Shell Cove in 2008.
Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said the new 18-hole attraction was part of the council's vision to build The Links' reputation as a community entertainment hub.
"In Shell Cove, there's a tavern, restaurants, the hotel, and people are going to go there and they're going to visit," Cr Saliba told the Mercury on Thursday.
"But we want to make sure The Links doesn't get left behind. So people can come and stay down in Shell Cove and enjoy those things down there, but then they can bring their families here and enjoy the opportunities that The Links has got to offer.
"Residents and visitors come along to The Links for more than a unique golf experience.
"The beautiful surrounds, inviting atmosphere and delicious food at The Tavern all come together to create a vibrant community space for friends and families of all ages.
"The new mini golf facility is one of the first of its kind in the southern hemisphere, providing the community with an experience unlike any other."
You can be one of the first to try out the new course at a community open day on Sunday, May 23 from 11am to 4pm.
There will be live music, games, performance, free prizes and the chance to catch some professional golfers trying out the course.
